CCA, short for the California College of the Arts, was founded in 1907, having campuses both in San Francisco and Oakland, California. CCA has around 1,500 undergraduates and 500 graduate students who study art, design, architecture, and writing. The wide variety of subjects that CCA specializes in have one theme: to engage its students in the practice and critical analysis of the arts. This emphasis on hands on learning is to facilitate lifelong relationships between the students and the arts that will leads to enrichment and fulfillment. CCA believes that artists, designers, architects, and writers have important roles in innovating solutions that will lead to solving the world’s societal, economic, and environmental issues. CCA sees sponsoring the Startup Weekend as a responsibility aligned with its mission: to create an atmosphere that allows the growth of collaboration and innovation.
